Dutch Braids with Beaded Accent Twist Braids

Sorry I haven't posted! My desktop has died so now I have to just get on someone else's whenever I have the chance. I was so rushed this year that I didn't get a chance to do a step by step. I will though, if enough people are interested. It looks complicated but it is really pretty easy, just a little time consuming...not too bad though and the end result is worth it. I will also be trying some other things with this hairstyle. So let me know what you think!!!

Renaissance Style: Dutch Braid Twist with Accent Braids

Well we didn't make it to the Renaissance Festival this year :( There has just been a ton of stuff going on ( I am expanding my business! ) but my sister did go and asked me to do her hair. This is a style I did quickly in the morning before they left to go to the festival. I was in a hurry and didn't get enough step by step shots but believe it or not this is pretty simple if you can dutch braid.

I started out with damp hair and applied gel separating it on the left side. Then I dutch braided down leaving a small amount of hair in a few sections, out of the braid for the accent twist.

When I had braided back both sides, I secured the ends with clear elastics and put them together. Taking the ends first I rolled them into a bun going towards the left side and secured with bobby pins. Then I made Twist Braids out of the sections I left out (about 4) and secured with clear elastics.

I took the one closest to the back and kinda of stuffed it behind the bun and secured with a bobby pin.

The second Twist Braid I did the same thing with.

The third and fourth Twist Braids I put on the opposite side of the bun and secured with bobby pins.

And this is the end result! I love the way it looks on her dark hair :) The blue flower just adds enough color too.

Okay, I know this has nothing to do with hair exactly but buying all those awesome hair accessories can be costly so why not save some money! I have been doing some research on Daily Deal ( Deal a Day) websites and I have made a list and brief description of them to share with you. I was surprised to learn how many there actually where and for what kinds of things. Did you know that you can get Daily Deals on Vacations!!!! I had no clue!

There are sites for awesomely fashionable clothing for men, women, and kids, sites for stuff for baby and children, sites for vacations, sites for electronics, and of course sites that offer a bit of everything that I have said PLUS places to eat out, things to do, make-up, photography, salon and spa's, local and online stuff, and everything thing else under the sun all for somewhere around 40-90 % off!!

At first I joined one and then heard of a couple others and it got me thinking, If you join all of them you have this awesome choice of deals all the time! So I joined the other 2 and then did research to find the others out there. I have purchased $30 worth of Mineral Make-Up from Soap Hope, the company I have mentioned in previous post HERE for only $8 and (btw, you should definitely check them out! All the proceeds go to helping empower women!) and then $50 worth of paper/business products from Vista Print for $10!!!! Isn't that awesome! The good thing is there are a lot of these deals that are for things you can purchase online as well. Some of the deal sites don't have offers for the local stuff in certain area's but you can still use them in 2 ways, 1) you can still get the deals on online stores they offer and 2) you can use them for if you go on vacation to an area that they are in, which I think is pretty cool :)

Pretty Ponytails:Rosette Braid Topped Side Ponytail

This is the other style we did with the rosette braids. Sorry the pictures are so crappy. This is a really easy hairstyle and it looks soooo pretty!

Start with a smooth side ponytail.

Using the hair from the top of the ponytail, make 3 small braids (not too small though). Secure the ends with clear elastics.

Start rolling the braid up.

Place it so the end of the braid you rolled up that shows the elastic is on the back side and take a couple bobby pins and slide through attaching it to the right corner above the ponytail. Then roll a second one for the middle just a little higher the the first on, secure. Now the third one. We left a couple of the ends stay out so it would look like leaves. You can hide them or leave them out. * The brighter pictures were taken after she had slept in this over night and been at school all day. They stay pretty well!

Rosette Braids Headband (Picture Day Hair)

This is the style we did for picture day before school let out. It is like a rosette headband but just with the hair. It is pretty fast and simple to do as well. I am sorry I didn't get the step by step photo's for this but we did it in the morning and well, I have mentioned before how our mornings are and that is why we usually do the style the night before but she had Cheer Tumbling the night before so we just did it in the morning.....it was a very early morning for us lol.

St Patrick's Day Pull Throughs

This is what this kind of braid reminds me of, a Celtic Knot

Start by making 3 ponytails across the top and then pull the hair through from the back towards the front.

It should look like this.

Now separate into 2 pieces.

Braid down all the way but fairly loose. The take 2 of the strands in your right hand and the 1 strand in your left and slid the 2 strands up the 1 strand.

Do this with all the ponytails that you split into 2 sections and secure at the bottom. Make a ponytail with the rest of the hair, add a cute little bow or flower, curls and your done!

Knotty Bun

We have been very knotty lol...okay that's way to corny but oh well :) Anyways here's how to do this Do'

Start out with wet, gelled hair and separate the top from ear to ear and part down the middle. Then make a ponytail with the rest.

Split the pony in two and start tying it in knots.

Like this...

As far down as you can go.

Wrap it over the right side making the bun. Secure with bobby pins.

Take the hair from the right and cross it over to the left and split in two.

Start tying the knots.

Like this....

Now take the left side of hair and cross it over to the right and split in two and tye in knots.

Wrap them, going in opposite directions around the first part of the bun and secure with bobby pins.

The Ultimate Ponytail :0)

I like this cause it is simple and way better then just a plain ponytail.

Start by separating the hair across the top, from ear to ear.

Now make a nice, neat ponytail.

Now take the left side of the hair from the top and cross it over to the right of the ponytail.

Do the same with the left.

Cross it over underneath the pony.

And back over and secure with a clear elastic.

Let it slide down just a bit and then make a single knot.

Go Under again and back over and knot again.

Do this all the way down and secure with an elastic.

It should look about like this. Now you can add flowers, decorative bobby pins or whatever you like

I didn't get a picture of the completely finished style because we do our styles the night before and I don't add all the goodies till morning and it happened to be a crazy morning (more then usual at least) and I didn't have time for a pic. This is why we do our styles the night before instead of in the morning before school. It just doesn't work with an ADHD kid lol. Let us if you like this one, your feedback is important :0) !

♥ Heart Headband for Valentine's Day♥

This just kinda popped into my head the other day and I tried it out, it's a good thing I took pics lol. I didn't use gel cause we were doing something that day and if it didn't turn out right I would have to take it down and it's easier with out the gel. This means there were some fuzzies lol. So I suggest you either use gel or pomade for this.

First I parted her bangs out, if your daughter doesn't have bangs you can skip this step

Then I parted the hair straight down the back.

Then I separated a band on each side.

Now make a small pony and do a pull through (you will be making 3 ponies on each side).

It will look like this.

Now split the pulled through pony into two sections and twist them outward.

Shape into a heart.

Secure with an elastic and put to the side.

Make the second pony and do the same thing except now you want to pull the end from the first heart in through the second heart.

Attach the bottom of the second heart to the hair you pulled through from the first. It will look like this.

Here is a closer pic doing this with the third heart.

Now the left side is done.

Just do the exact same thing on the right.

Take the ends from the hearts and pull smoothly back.

Attach an elastic.

Top view.

You can do a ribbon like this and attach it to the elastic you used or you could use a plastic craft needle and thread it through the pull trough's.

I poofed it up a little and curled the ends just a bit.

We may have one more style before Valentine's so check back.

First, apply gel to wet hair and part the hair down the middle, then separate a section of hair that is just behind the ear on each side and make a ponytail. Use either a piece of string, a topsy tail, or a rat tail comb, and pull the hair through the back and into the front.

Split that ponytail in half and braid each side like this.

Make a third section of hair and secure with an elastic and then secure the braids with it like this or do like I ended up doing and just pull the braided pieces through going back where you do the next pull through. Hope this makes sense look at the picture after this one below. You can do it either way though.

I ended up changing it and pulled the braids through like this.

Now braid the second section like you did the first.

Now just do the same with the other side.

At this point it should look something like this.

Now with the bottom half of the hair, make a ponytail adding the extra hair from the braids from the first heart (I didn't smooth it down so you can see it) Do a pull through going from the bottom, up. Then connect the left braid and right braid from the sides and pull through going from top to bottom so it comes out the bottom.

Now with the hair you pulled through the top, split it in half and braid to make the heart.

Connect it to the hair coming through the bottom and then just go through and place bobby pins where needed to support the hearts

Wreath Twist/4 Strand Braid

Wreath Twist/4 Strand Braid

I'm back with the other style we did for Christmas but it can be used anytime. This is very simple and can be done two different ways. For Christmas, we did this one, sorry no step by steps but it is so easy they aren't really needed (if you still need step by step let me know and I will be more then happy to do the pics for you, just let me know) Start out with wet hair and add gel throughout, comb it smoothly back into a fairly low ponytail and secure. If you want the effect like above what we did was use a Christmas scrunchy with these little furry balls lol or you can attach a bow with a clip either just if you do a crunchy, make sure to put that one in before braiding. We usually use one good elastic with a decorative scrunchy aver it. Next, split the ponytail hair into two sections. Now do a 4 Strand Braid one each section *tip. try and braid as far down as you can so there is less ends to hide. Now wrap one braid up, over the head to make a half circle and secure with bobby pins. Now take the other braid and wrap around the opposite side of the head to complete the circle, but make sure you are covering the ends from the first side and tucking in the ends from the second side, then secure with bobby pins. I also used a plastic craft needle to thread ribbon through the braids. Spray with hairspray and you're done!

Now this is the other version I mentioned. The only difference is I sectioned the hair into two sections and did Twist instead of 4 Strand Braids. Both have a nice effect.

Pink And Purple Elastic Cornrows

This is pretty easy to do you just have to try and make your parts even. I made the first part where the front pink elastics are and then did each side by that part which helps. Then I alternated the colors. Then with the hair from the elastic cornrows I did the weave pattern and then into the buns.

Pigtails, Squishy Braids, and a Poof....Oh My!

Ok, I don't have anymore pictures of this one, I really liked the way it looked though. It is pretty and simple. First I made the little poof with her bangs that we are growing out ( I am considering cutting them though....they bug lol) I left a little bit down on each side and then put the rest into pigtails. I separated a small amount of hair on the top section of each pigtail. I did a loose braid and then at the end I slid 2 of the 3 braid strands up to make the squishy braid. I think it looks a lot like Celtic Knot work. Anyways I secured each squishy braid with an elastic and there you go! Enjoy!

Christmas Tree

We did this style for her last week of school. I like how it turned out although I wish I had been able to find a little star or something for the top, that would have been soooo cute :)

I know the pictures are terrible below but If you can see good enough they are helpful.

First make sure to do this while the hair is wet and use a good amount of strong gel. I put half of her hair into a fairly high ponytail. Then I kinda of separated it like when you do a messy bun and just made little elastic ponytails all the way around. Then for each little pony you made split it in half and add it to the half from the one next to it and secure with another elastic.

Keep splitting it and adding it to the side one all the way down until you have something that looks like a webbed hat lol. Spray it with hairspray and let it dry.

After it has dried, pull it down so it looks like a cone. Take the bottom half of the hair you didn't do the webbing with and put into low pigtails. Take the webbed hair and add to each side and secure (it doesn't have to be secured to the same spot you made the pigtails it can be further down the pigtail to make a tall enough Christmas tree.). Then I took these cute little Christmas bulbs I found at Michael's and a plastic craft sewing needle and just tied it into different spots on the tree. Add a tree topper or whatever else you think looks cute and you have a decorated Christmas tree!

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and sorry these post are after Christmas but keep it in mind for next year! We have one more Christmas style I will be posting next but it can be used year round!

My Absence, a Style, and The Nissan Leaf

For starter,I hope everyone had a great Holiday and a wonderful New Years! I do have a few reasons I have not posted, one is because my laptop died and I have to replace the motherboard which really suck! Two is because I have been super busy but I have some new stuff to post. My daughter and I tagged along with my dad to go test drive the new Nissan Leaf at the special promotion they have been doing which this time was in Tempe at the Arts Festival.

I was really surprised and impressed with this car so I thought I would share a bit of info and pics. We got there, signed in and they walked us through a presentation. It looks nice and comes with lots of amenities like an awesome navigational system that tells you when your getting low on power and then finds you a place to charge up! You get about 106 city miles or 92 highway miles per full charge which isn't bad for local driving (a little more of a challenge for people with long commutes until there are plenty of charging stations) and it is priced at $32,780 ($25,280 after a $7,500 federal tax incentive). It drives smooth and is very responsive, overall I really like the car and I am considering purchasing one. To buy one you put a $99 deposit down from what I remember and make an appointment for them to come out and talk to you about setting up the charging station. There are a lot of orders going in so you have to wait for production though so until this coming Fall you wont be able to really walk in to the local Nissan and drive off the lot. I think its worth the wait though especially with the price of gas going up constantly! So go check out the Nissan website and let me know what you think!

My New Projects!

I have been working on some things, some of which I have already shown you guys (the bows) .

I have been making more and different kinds and I also made this cute little Halloween costume! It is a Black and Purple TuTu with strips of shimmery fabric with stars on it and flowers and a little funky Witches Hat on a headband that sits off to the side with a matching flower and little black cat!

This is a ghost one I did. The fabric has rainbow shimmer ghost all over it and I shaped it into a flower and then added the ghost in the middle.

This is a rosette I did with the same fabric I used for the tutu. I love this fabric!!!

Twisted To The Side

I haven't been posting like I want to. After moving, 2 birthdays, and getting some other stuff going it has just been so busy :( ! I am getting some styles we have done lately ready for posting though.

This one is one of those "man we are running late" hairstyles that turned out really pretty! I took the hair from the right side and twisted it to the left rolling and adding hair as I went. I secured it to a side ponytail and then made it into a messy, messy bun lol. I added this cute little flower Chelina got for her birthday and that's it :)

Puffy Braid Halo

I'm sorry I don't have step by step pics for this but it is really simple. What I did was start with the bangs in front. I made kind of an upside down triangle so the point is pointing to the back. Then I split that in half and added some hair to the right side of it and secured with an elastic. Then I took a little more hair and added it to the puffy braid. Keep doing this until you get to the end of the right side. Now do the same with the other side. When you're done with that take the hair from each side and split it into 4 pieces, blend the two middle pieces together so you now have three. Braid down and curl, maybe add a flower to the end and your done!

Hair Shows and Hair Bows

Okay, so has anyone else seen the commercial for The Hair Battle Spectacular on Oxygen? It is a reality t.v. show about stylist who are competing by creating the best Fantasy/creative hairstyle! Now I know none of these are styles we would put on our daughters BUT oh the inspiration! You can take an over the top style and take bits and pieces of it to create your own toned down masterpiece!

So it looks like it's going to be very interesting so if your like me and love anything to do with hair then tune in on August 10 at 10 PM ET/PT on Oxygen!

Okay, I have been dabbling in making hair accessories as a way to make some extra money for birthdays and holidays coming up. I make jewelry as well but this is my first try at bow making SO...I am asking for your help. I want to know what you think of the one's I have done so far and some I am still working on like the Purple and Blue flower one. So PLEASE let me know what you think and what is your favorite and of course if anyone one is interested in one let me know :)

Classy Cross Over

We did this beautiful style today. I love these styles with different braids or twist kind of draped through.

We started by parting the hair down the middle.

Then we made this V in the front.

Start doing a Dutch Braid at the tip of the V on the right side.

I left out a little bit of hair up front

Continue the braid into the rest of the hair so the Dutch Braid is going around to the middle. Leave out about 3/4 of one side of the braid on the right side.

It should look like this.
Now do the other side the same way.

Now add both sides together and make it into one braid going down but leave some hair at the bottom for the little flip part. Also make 2 twist braids on each side.

Pull the bottom of the hair up through the middle. Push the braid up a little so it isn't hanging so much and secure with bobby pins.

So far it should look about like this.

I took a little butterfly clip and cinched together the bottom hair to make it neater.

Now take the twist braids from the right and cross them over to the left corner of the middle bun and hold it in place with a pretty clip, leaving a little sticking up. Now do the same with the twist on the left side and cross over to the right. Curl under a little and back brush just a little spray and your done.

Basic Twist Back Over a Scarf

I was going through some older pics and I found these. It is a pretty basic hairstyle and doesn't take long. Just a good way to add some flair and it holds the scarf in well. I just separated the hair from ear to ear over the top and then split that into 2 going over in the same direction. Then I split that into 3 vertical sections so you will have six squares. I placed the scarf in the middle and added each front section to the back so there were 3 sections now. I secured them with elastics and then split the middle one and twisted it with the right and left sides to make the twist braids. I added this to the remaining hair and made a ponytail and twisted it too and there you go :)

Late 4th of July Post

Sorry for getting this on so late after the holiday but we were having some issues with the pic transfers. Anyhow, we kept the style but added some twist braids with beads to the pigtails and curled it some. It is just so dang hot here that the curl doesn't last very long :(
We also did these stars with a stencil and her cheer make up which I thought turned out adorable!

So I just wanted to share these with you :)

4th Of July style

Okay so I started out by separating the hair down the middle. Use a good amount of gel for this.

Then across the top

I split the right side into 2 sections. Then I took the right side of that and make 6 sections across.

Now take the bottom section and split again, twist hair so it will fit through the bead and add to the section to the right of it.
*these pics look different cause I was going to have 2 rows of beads on the left and right of each pigtail..it will make more sense later. This shows how to do the beads though.
Secure with a clear elastic.
Do the same with the next one.

So add the red, white, and blue beads going up the right side like this.

Until it looks like this

Now the left side.

Like this.

Then I took a section on the left just behind her bangs for a cornrow and braided it down, then added red, white, and blue beads to that braid and secure with a clear elastic at the bottom.

Now go back and starting at the bottom take the little ponies you have created and split them in half add the section so you have 3 strands and start your braid. Now just dutch braid by adding each side as you go up and then secure at top.

We added the left over hair from the crown and made pigtails and made messy buns to weave the Glowbys into.

We added the bows I made as well.

This is with pigtails instead of buns.

For a more dramatic look, you can make this like I was starting out and instead of having the one braid going up the middle you will have two braids and more beads. This is kinda confusing to explain since we changed the way we were doing it but Chelina was tired and it takes longer to do the other way. I hope this explains enough though. Butterfly Braids

Butterfly Braids

For this style we were going for a butterfly kind of look and this is what we ended up with. It would have been better if I had made 2 loops on each side of the braid but this was cute as well.

First, part the hair down the middle and then make a Dutch Braid down the right side BUT at about the crown area split the hair in half that your adding and leave a half out of the braid.

It should look like this.

Do both sides and then do Twist Braids for the hair you left out.

Twist the twist braids together a couple timesin the middle.

Now start adding the twist to the remaing part of the Dutch Braid at about the nape of the neck and continue to braid as far down as you can.

This is how the braids should look by now.

Ren Fest Braids Step By Step

Sorry this took so long to get up and I hope these pictures are descriptive enough. If anyone still has problems with it I can do a video. It is hard to be doing the styles and have a free hand to take the pictures at the same time. So here goes.

First, separate the hair down the middle and then across the crown. Apply gel through out hair.

Start where these 3 pieces of hair are in like a V at the corner and make your dutch braid kind of at an angle and stop where the hair was separated.

It should look like this. Now secure with a clear elastic.

Now make another ponytail like this.

Do a twist braid or a regular 3 strand braid, I like it better with the twist braid.

Wrap it around the elastic into a bun going counter clockwise.Secure with bobby pins.

Now separate the side ponies into 2 pieces.

Now make 3 twist braids with the bottom half and a 4 strand braid with the top.

It should look about like this so far.

Now take the right side 4 strand braid and wrap it around the bun and secure with bobby pins. then going in the opposite direction wrap the left side 4 strand braid around the bun and secure with bobby pins.

Now for this part you can do it 2 different ways. You can either take the 3 twist braids from the left and cross them over to the right and wrap the ends around that elastic like in the pic or you can take the 3 twist braids and cross them over to the bun and wrap the ends around that and secure. Then cross the right side over to the left and do the same thing for which ever way you chose. Secure with bobby pins and cute clips, curl the remaining hair (or leave straight) and your done. Spray well and use plenty of gel.

Funky Knots

Ok, corny name I know but sometimes I run out of my name creativity lol. The pictures are horrible, they were taken in the morning before school (as I was shoving her out the door on the verge of being late) and taken with my phone so no flash and low light, but I at least thought to get a few pics of it before it was all messed up.

Anyways, enough about my lovely school mornings with a kid who REALLY has ADHD lol. Now lets get to stylin'!

This style is done on wet hair with a good amount of gel applied. First separate a section of hair from ear to ear along the top, now part that to the side (I part on the right so the short side is on the right). Take the shorter side and make puffy braids or elastic braids as I call them, by sectioning a row and securing it with an elast and then getting another sectioned row and adding the hair from the first to that one and continue down do this for the whole right side. Now, start with the hair on the longer side (left) at the top and secure with an elastic then tie onto itself once then add to the next section and secure with an elastic. Now add another section to it and then tie once and secure with an elastic. Now do this tie and skip as far down as you can go till you get to just below the ear and secure with an elastic.

Now take both sides and add to the remaining hair in back and secure into a ponytail. Separate into two sections and tie over and over just leaving a little at the end and secure with an elastic, pull the knotted ponytail up and attach with bobby pins to the hair making X's with the pins to hold in place. Take the remaining hair and curl under a little. I made it so one side was higher then the other since this is how the knot was making go anyways and it looked cute. Spray and your good to go!

Knotted Back Pigtails

This is a simple style to do. We started out by making the little poof in the front then we split the hair into 2 sections for pigtails. Apply gel all through hair and comb through some more. Then start sectioning of a small amount of hair starting from the top just below the poof for the first knot. Secure this with an elastic and then tie once. Now section another piece and add the hair from the first knot and secure with an elastic and tie. Make another section and secure with an elastic and tie then add to the last section of hair and secure with a more heavy duty elastic.

Now just do the same with the other side, spray and your done. This style is easiest to do on wet hair. The knots turn out much smoother.

Swirled And To The Side

This is a pretty hairstyle that can be dressy or casual. These pictures didn't turn out the greatest and don't do it justice but it's what I got. I will do a step by step for this and the one for Ren Fest next week when school is out. Basically what I did was separate a section of hair along the front and then braided it low.Then I took the top section of hair and made a little poof and secured it into a ponytail. Then I made 2 other ponytails and on the bottom pony, I added the braided sides. Then I took the top pony and made a loose swirled bun, securing it with bobby pins and leaving this little extra bit of hair going to the left then I made the same bun for the second pony but I twisted it in the opposite direction and left the extra hair at the end going to the right. I left the bottom pony down and curled it and the ends that were from the buns, although you can't tell real good cause at this point her hair had lost its curl from being in the heat and it got a little fuzzy. To make the buns a little bigger I lightly back brushed the hair before swirling it into the bun. Now all you have to do is spray with a good holding hairspray and your done!

I am looking for a really good holding hairspray, what hairspray do you use?

Cornrowed Mini Faux Hawk Poof

Cornrowed Mini Faux Hawk Poof

For this what I did was first separate a patch of hair down the middle and pinned it aside. Now take the hair on the side and cornrow from the front going back. My daughters hair is kinda fine so I only made three sections going back on each side. Now do the other side and make a pony tail out of the braids. You want the ponytail to be about where the poof ends in the picture, it will be covered up by the remaining hair. Now, take the hair from the middle and use a rounded brush and blow dryer, blow dry the hair in small sections from back to front. When you blow dry, pull the hair so it is over extended, spray it and use the round brush to add the volume. After you have finished, take the front section (bangs) and make a small poof out of it. Now, back brush the rest of the sections a little and smooth over then make another, larger poof that would end right at the top of the ponytail and secure with about 4-6 bobby pins in an x pattern. Now smooth hair and blend with the ponytail. You can curl remaining hair or straighten. Spray and your done! :)

Also, you might notice her shirl in the back is altered. I cut the strips across and then did a french fishbone braid and I think it turned out sooo cute! I see styles in all kinds of weird places lol!

Now I know I have been a bad blogger and haven't been on and posting like I should but just because I was MIA for a bit people thing they can come on here and post comments advertising for something which to make matters worse in most cases has been perverted stuff!! On a blog about little girls hair!!! I mean could you possibly stoop any lower then that? Trying to make money is one thing but to what expense...this goes way too far.

I have gone through and deleted the comments and I am going to change my settings for comments. I will be posting more often as well.

Renaissance Festival Hairstyle

Pretty Valentine's Day Wreath

Ok, first I want to say I am sorry for not posting in so long. I have been working on some things and I just had to take a break. Now that, that is out of the way and hopefully you still check in on my styles :) I will share with you what we did.

Now I wanted to do a pretty style for Valentine’s Day that was different from the usual heart. This is what we came up with. I didn’t get step by step pics but if you would like then just let me know.

First, I separated the bangs in the front so they would sweep to the side.
Then I separated the hair about midway and secured it with an elastic.
Now braid the hair down about 3/4ths of the way down and secure with an elastic
Now take the braid and pull it up and make a circle with it.
Now secure this in place with bobby pins or temporarily with other clips.
Now take some pretty red ribbon and the easiest thing to do is use these plastic needles you can find at Wal-Mart and thread it through the hair and the braid to hold it in it’s wreath position.
Now take the end and do a kind of pull through from the bottom of the pony coming out the top so you have a fountain effect. Curl this hair under and spray. Now you can use a pretty barrette like we did for the bangs or just use a flat iron and sweep to the side. Add some curl the the hair that is left down and you have a pretty hairstyle for Valentine’s!

Veterans Day Parade

Veteran's Day Parade

Yesterday my daughter was in the Veterans Day Parade in Phoenix with Young Champions of America which is the program she goes to for Cheer and Hip Hop. They are huge and have classes for Cheer, Hip Hop, Soccer, Karate, and Art all over the valley as well as in California, Texas, Ohio, North Carolina, Michigan (Tennessee, Indiana, Pennsylvania), Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa! They are only $6 per class and are a Non-Profit Organization. Chelina has been doing Cheer and Hip Hop with them for about 2 years. She loves it and her coaches are great! They do parades and competitions each semester.

So yesterday I found out the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade is the 4th largest Veterans Day Parade. I mean I have only lived in Arizona since 1998 and then 6 years as a kid and I didn't know this lol. It was great to go out and see everyone there showing their pride. It was a Little toasty out though :(, 91 degree's is way too hot for November! The weather man Say's that was the last of the 90 degree temps so we will see.

So as far as hair goes, I did a 2 criss cross twists over a scarf and then pigtails with braids then 4 twist in the middle with red, white, and black elastics (her cheer colors). I wrapped the ends of the scarf around the elastics for the pigtails and secured with a small black elastic. So here is the pics. Wasn't able to get many at the parade cause I was also using the camcorder and we were late due to traffic issues. I did take some after getting back though.

I know these aren't the best step by step pic's but it was late :( so forgive me. It is basically 2 styles I have done before combined.

Squeshed, loose buns

I did this one the other day and it is very simple pretty. I didn't have flowers to match her clothes though but these looked nice for the style.

I separated the hair in 2 sections going across the back of the head. I then made 2 ponytails, one just a bit to the right of the center and the other a little to the left of center. Then, using bobby pin's and twisting the hair just slightly, I formed the bun's. I did this while the hair was still a little damp. Spray well and smooth out and don't forget your flower 's or bows in each side and your done!

This is my sweetheart wearing an Amy Brown Fairytude costume. We did her hair in the Bun that you use a clean rolled up sock to make at Girly Do's by Jenn and we left the remaining hair down in the back with some purple ribbon hanging down. I made a little poof with her bangs and left a bit of the hair on each side down and curled it. Sorry I don't have any step by step pics but we were running late.

Our Halloween was kinda bad. Nobody at our complex was handing out candy so after walking around and only her only getting candy from a few people we were going to a carnival but by the time we got there it was too late so this Halloween was rough. What happened to the people who go all out and enjoy giving out candy to all the little spooks? Holidays are so exciting and magical for kids and people are starting to ruin it for them. But next will be better, we won't be in these apt's by then lol. Hope everyone had a fun, spooky, and magical night!

Cornrow Mohawk

This is Sutehia, she was staying with her Grandma next door up until yesterday when she went back home. For her going away style we did this colorful mohawk. She has become part of the family so of course we did her hair :)

I seperated the hair down the middle on top to get that mohawk line and then cliped it out of the way. Then I seperated the first row and did the cornrow going up. I secured it with an elastic and then did the next row. After I finished the 2nd row I took the hair that was left over and added it to the 2nd cornrow and secured with an elastic. I just continued the cornrows and adding until I got almost to the back. Did the same with the other side, and then curled the hair for the mohawk back. I made a little poof and secured it and was done.

LOL she is always goofy :) We will miss her!

Ok everyone, I know this isn't the typical contest that is featured on the blogs but the prizes are really good. My daughter has been involved in a program for Cheer and Dance called Young Champions Of America for almost 2 years now and she loves it! They do parades and competitions. Locally they will be in the Veterans Day Parade in Phoenix,AZ and the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Fountain Hill, AZ. They have competitions every three months and her Cheer squad has gotten 1st and 2nd place every time in regional's and placed 1st in state! As you may have read, my daughter has ADD/ADHD and having after school activities is very important. It gives her confidence and also gives her an outlet for some of that extra energy!

This semester, since she has turned 9 she has gone up in division. For cheer she has been in Varsity and now she is in Jr All-Stars and for dance she was in Jr Dance Force and now she is in Extreme Dance Force. This requires new uniforms for each that they wear in competitions and parades so they are trying to raise money by selling the raffle tickets which I think is great! So what Chelina wants to do is whoever donates the most will not only get their raffle ticket but she will make them a special bracelet!

Braided Pigtails with a Twist

First, separate the hair into pigtails. We did a little zig zag part. Use a good amount of gel or pomade with this one.

Now divide the pigtail into 3 peices.

Now braid about 3/4 of the way down. Sorry about the sideways picture :/

Secure with a small clear elastic. Divide into 3 sections and and do 3 twist braids. Secure with an small clear elastic.

Now braid the rest of the way down. Make sure you separate the 3 twist braids so they stick out a little.

I added the little poof and secured it with bobby pins and added these cute liyyle flower clips I got from Claires. I think the colors looked real nice with her shirt.

Laced Headband For Back To School

Last Monday was Chelina's 1st day of 3rd Grade! I wanted to do a cute style for her so I did this one. I started by separating the hair from ear to ear in a section a bit wider then the headband. Then I separated that into 2 sections and them so they were away from the middle. I placed the headband on and made a section, about like a small square, and made a small ponytail on each side if the headband. Then I took those two ponies and twisted them and crossed them over (be sure to use pomade or gel so you don't get fuzzies and flyaways) each other and added them to 2 more sections then cross over again, lacing it until you get to the opposite side and with the hair remaining I did twist braids. I left the back down and curled it a little and she was set for her first day! Thanks for reading :)

Triple Criss Cross Cornrows - Our 4th of July pics

Ok, I know, this isn't the style I posted but I knew if I didn't attempt this one it would bug me lol.

So what I did was this. I separated the hair from ear to ear (a little behind) and then separated that into 3 sections across. The middle section I cornrowed all the way across then I started back on the same side and started doing a cornrow beside the middle one then stopped part of the way up then instead of doing more of a cornrow, I just braided it normal so it could cross over the middle one. Then I started the 3rd braid . I did the same thing as the other and did the cornrow up to the same point and then extended the braid a little beyond. Now after doing that I take the second braid I did and crossed it over the middle one and continued the cornrow on the opposite side. Doing the same extension to cross over. Then do the 3rd braid the same way. After all the cornrows are done and connected take the colored hair and wrap it around one of the sections of the braid and then connect it again so the colored hair is in the middle then braid as you normally would. Then I put the rest of the hair from the back in a ponytail and added the pretty patriotic bow we got from Every Little Detail.

Ok, I hope everyone had a great 4th and thanks for the comments on the other 4th style :) Oh and BTW if your little princess has bangs, your definitely going to want to use pomade or beeswax to braid then in without major flyaways. Some of Chelina's hair didn't want to co-operate even with the pomade lol.

Summer Is Supposed To Be Slower?

Ok, I know I have been terrible about posting lately and you have probably given up on checking my page but I am trying to get things going now. I really thought things would slow down over the summer but nope, not happening lol. In between getting stuff done for my business, sleepovers, parties, a computer that isn't getting online, Dr appt's, errands, cleaning, and trying to keep bored munchkins entertained things just have not gone my way lately......and did I mention my pics for the 4th of July style got deleted lol. So I am kind of looking forward to school being back in which for Chelina is going to be July 29th.

Ok, now about the 4th of July styles. I had some pics done and they got deleted then I had this great idea for one and the piece I needed for it is sold out sooooo I am attempting an altered version of it tonight which I will have posted no later then tomorrow morning. Ok so as you can see my site is all jacked up. It sad those lovely bandwidth exceeded signs all over before I put this background on...yea I know....it looked great lol. Anyways, I am know working on fixing it. I just found out Tuesday that my Uncle passed away Sunday morning. He got lung cancer and it went to the brain. Now this is the 7th death in the past 11 years that this side of my family has gone through. First was my Grandpa, eh died from Emphysema, then my Grandma from Lung Cancer, My Aunt passed away from Huntington's Disease, then we moved out here to Arizona because my Aunt was in a nursing home and they weren't sure what all was wrong with her and she passed away shortly after we got here, then my other passed away suddenly from a Massive Stroke, last year my Mom passed away from Emphysema, and now my Uncle. Now the Aunt that passed away from Huntington's was his wife and they had 4 kids, 3 out of the 4 has the Huntington's 1 is doing really bad and is in a nursing home and the other is getting worse and is in a assisted living center.

The saddest part is everyone that has passed has been under 70 and all but my Grandparents were under about 55! It really is hard to take in all the loss my family has suffered. I worry so much about my cousins and how they are doing. Everyone in my family has had a very hard life and then an all too soon death.

My cousin is having trouble trying to get all the money together for funeral expenses. She has kids of her own and I wanted to do something to help out. I know things are tough for everyone right now financially but if anyone has even a few dollars they can donate to help with the expenses I would greatly appreciate it! Tiny Frogs

I wanted to share this great story with you, it has nothing to do with hair but a lot to do with life and mommyhood. So read on and enjoy!

TINY FROGS
Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs who arranged a running competiton. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower...
A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the frog contestants. And so the race began, but honestly:
No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. The crowd made statements like:
"Oh way too difficult"
"They will never make it to the top"
or
"Not a chance they will ever make it to the top"
The tiny frogs began collapsing one by one. Except for those who in a still fresh tempo were climbing higher and higher...
The crowd began to yell at this point "It's too difficult! No one will make it!"
More tiny frogs collapsed, got tired, simply gave up...as if they began realizing the crowd was right and they wouldn't make it.
But there was ONE who cotinued higher and higher and higher...
This one wouldn't give up! The crowd and frogs who were dropping out were amazed at this one. Surely he would quit soon, right?
Close to the end all the other frogs had quit trying to climb the tower. Except for that one tiny frog who wouldn't give up...
After a big effort and one last charge, giving it his all, he FINALLY reached the top!!!
The spectators and all the rest of the tiny frogs wanted to know how did this one frog manage to do it?
How did that tiny frog find the strength to succeed and reach the goal?
It turned out...
That the determined frog and winner was DEAF!
Since he didn't hear the crowd he never bought into the idea that he couldn't do it! His mind was so focused on the goal it never occured to him that he could not do it!
Moral and wisdom of the story:
Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic because they are the "dream stealers". They will take away your most wonderful dreams and wishes. Be true to the wonderful dreams and wishes you have in your heart!
Always think of the power words have (There's life and death in the power of the tongue - Proverbs 18:21)
Everything you hear, read and talk about will affect your actions and your outcome!
Therefore:
Always be positive. Fill your mind and your days with positive actions, affirmations and deeds. Don't get caught up in the negative buzz or gloom and doom around you. Remain the optimist and look for the silver lining (and be positive about) every situation and circumstance that comes your way.
Be like the winning frog and be DEAF when others tell you you can not fulfill your dreams! Keep focused on the goal and you won't hear the negativity going on around you.
You can do it!

Criss Cross Cornrows Headband

Ok, yesterday was Chelina's Hip Hop Awards Night and I decided to do a hairstyle I started a couple weeks ago ( stopped cause it was getting to late for a style that takes this long ). The first pictures are from the first time I did it the finished pics are from yesterday. Now, I have to tell you-my cornrows are usually a lot tighter and neater but I had a short amount of time before we had to leave. I really like the style though and she got a lot of compliments.

The Do

Can't see it as much in the pic above but keep going :)

First, separate hair from the back of her ear to the back of the ear on the other side (like a half pony). Put the rest in a smooth pony so it doesn't get mixed in with the part your braiding. Now separate the hair into 5 sections. Start on the bottom right side section and then separate that into 2 strips. Do cornrows (Dutch Braids) on the first strip and continue the braid up a little past the part that is snug to the head, clip it off and do the other strip the same way and then cross them over and add this hair to the next section of hair. Do the braiding again the same way and just continue this with each section. Then braid remainder of the hair down and let hang. Then take the back un-braided hair out of the pony and back brush a couple sections and smooth it out so you have a little poof and put in either bobby pins, a bow, or a clip to secure the poof and curl the hair a little. Don't forget to use something like Demented Hair Goo by Beyond Zone from Sally's while you are braiding or Bees Wax. Both can be found at Sally's. Also it helps to use some kind of volumizing cream for the hair that stays down.

Oh and btw she has her finger in her mouth, not nose lol :)

This hair d0' could be worn by any age, I would but I can't cornrow my own hair lol.

Twist Buns

I did thisabout 4 years ago and found the pics so I thought I would post this until I do the 'do again :). It is 5 twisted buns across the top with a braid going across from each twist bun on the left and right side. I like this look, it is really cute but the only bad this is my princess' hair gets very tangled when left down. So I don't leave it down like that very often.

This is some thing I am still working on. I don't like the way the top turned out as much but I like the twist. After I get the kinks worked out I will post that as well.

Basically what I did was I put her hair into 3 ponies and then seperated the hair into multiple twists and secured with an elastic. I did this with all 3 ponies and took each twist and twisted it into itself so it was twisted in half. Then I secured the ends into the top of the pony and curled it. This is how it looked....

Her Easter Hair Do

Her Easter Hair Do

So this is the one we finally did. It is part of the other idea's with something else thrown in. I didn't get the step by step pictures this time but for the most part they are already on my other postings.

This is the 'do. Read below for how to overview.

So basically I seperated 2 sections of hair 1 on each side of her head and secured with a clear elastic. I then did those into twist. The reast of the hair I seperated into 3 ponies and did the flowers like in my other post. After that I twisted the twist up over her head like a headband and secure them bt tying a string around them. Then I added it to the "stems" and she DID have a real pretty ribbon wrapped around the "stem" bottom to look like a pretty bouquet buuutttt she squirmed around so much during church that it slid off so I didn't get that in the pic.

You ever have one of those days where nothing seems to go right? Well that is today lol. I got started on doing the Easter style I was telling you about and not only was her hair just not cooperating there were people in and out and the phone ringing, dog barking....well you see what I mean.

Soooooo I am going to have to post the Easter Hairstyle tomorrow to save my sanity lol. Sorry :(

I want to start experimenting more too just haven't been able to....but summer is coming which means a slower schedule and more time to tinker :)I like to also use extensions of fun colors and beads and all kinds of stuff so I am going to try more of that after a bit. For the St Patrick's Day before last I added emerald green hair to hers in dutch braids and it was cute...didn't get a pic though :(.

Ok everyone, I have thought up this really neat idea for a hairstyle for Easter! I am so excited to put it together....I love holidays! Not only do they get the family together but they get those creative juices flowing.

I thought of this the other day while looking at Easter stuff at wonderful WollyWorld (WalMart lol) but Chelina has Cheer Mondays and Hip Hop on Tuesdays and with other business stuff and homework helping I haven't had the time to do it. It is getting close to Easter so I better shake a tail feather huh. Anyways, I just wanted to give a heads up to keep a lookout for it...at the latest it will be on Saturday.

Dutch Braids

Ok, this isn't a very recent pic but it works for all intensive purposes lol. A Dutch Braid is basically a French Braid flipped upside down. I wanted to learn how to do cornrows a few years ago (which is usually a bunch of tiny Dutch Braids) so I taught myself. To do a Dutch Braid you start out like your making a pony tail in the beginning spot where you want the braid to start, then you seperate that into 3 peices. Braid those 3 peices going once over but do it by putting the hair under insted of over. Then just go down the line adding a peice on each side as you would with a French Braid. This can be done in many styles! I will add step by step pics with all my styles soon. I just wanted to go ahead and list some of this for you.

Ok so, I thought I would make a blog just for my hair styles and then just link to my other blog because I think it is easier that way. In case you don't know, my name is Brianna and I am a single 31 year old work at home mom. I have one daughter and her name is Chelina. I have done all kinds of stuff with her hair since she was about 4 and since discovering the other wonderful "Hair Blogs" on here I have been inspired all over again!

I love doing hair and everyone always says I should be a stylist which is such a great compliment for me :). I have always done hair since I was well about my daughters age. I would put my Grandma's hair in rollers and style it for her and later I did her perms and coloring. I also did some basic cuts as well. Then when I had a daughter I just started experimanting with designs. I have done so many and unfortunatly I don't have pictures of them all :( but I am going to come up with new ones and try and re-create the old ones as well.
